Hey Pirates! Did you know your college president is a sports fan? That's right. Ventura College President Dr. Kimberly Hoffmans enjoys following all the VC teams, attends competitions whenever possible, and likes watching college football in person. She was even a competitive tennis player and won Regionals for singles tennis during her senior year of high school!
So, few people were happier when sports came back into play this season. "Aside from being enjoyable and keeping students in top physical fitness, sports teach students about themselves and navigating life situations. They learn the value of savoring the moment of a win, resilience in the face of a loss and being a good sport. And they learn about goals and working hard to achieve them," writes Dr. Hoffmans in her recent guest column about college sports.
